Patient Care

Treatment Technologies

Nowhere is the dawn of personalized cancer care more evident than in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers. In esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, pancreatic cancer, colon cancer, and rectal cancer we are commonly using information about specific genetic mutations within the cancer itself to guide our treatment. Many of the clinical trials use either genetic markers or imaging characteristics or both to guide the choice of treatment.

  • 3-D conformal radiation therapy
  • Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy
  • Stereotactic Ablative Radiation Therapy to the Liver or Pancreas
  • Intra-operative Radiation Therapy
  • Brachytherapy, particularly Ytrium-90 microsphere-based Selective Internal Radiation Therapy
  • Endorectal Brachytherapy
  • Esophageal Brachytherapy
  • Pancreatic SRBT. The correct type of radiation therapy or radiation procedure will be chosen for patients based on the type of cancer and tumor location(s).
